One of Victoria’s most experienced senior public servants and former Deputy Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Elizabeth Langdon, joins Proximity.

Elizabeth joins Proximity as an Expert Advisor after more than 25 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors in Australia and overseas. Elizabeth will join Proximity’s Victorian team, after acting as the Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner, a statutory appointment which handles complaints about healthcare and the handling of health information in Victoria.

Elizabeth was the CEO of the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence and, prior this, was the Deputy Secretary at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) leading the establishment of the Jobs & Skills Exchange (JSE) for the Victorian Government. The JSE is a highly successful whole of government initiative driving enhanced career options and greater mobility across the Victorian Public Service.

Amongst her proudest achievements, Elizabeth was the Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Public Sector Commission and acted as the Victorian Public Sector Commissioner from 2017 -2018. In this role, she had a legislative mandate to strengthen the efficiency, effectiveness, and capability of the public sector in Victoria and was a strong advocate for public sector professionalism and integrity.

‘The Proximity team is excited to be bringing on board someone with Elizabeth’s vast experience and hugely impressive track record across so much of the public service,’ said Mike Watson, Proximity Co-CEO.

‘Elizabeth has a great reputation for problem solving and leading policy and operational teams. Given her expertise in leading change and reform agendas, Elizabeth will take on an active role in helping our Victorian government clients with change management, organisational planning, and transformation’.

Elizabeth said she was excited to be joining Proximity at a time where the business was experiencing significant growth in its national team, and particularly in Victoria.

‘I have been fortunate to work on some big projects in Victoria and I wanted to continue to do more of that work, but from a different vantage point. Proximity appealed to me as the firm works at the forefront of nation-changing projects, from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, to Proximity’s role in delivering large scale Defence projects – I felt I could add real value and contribute here’ Elizabeth said.

‘In considering my next career step, I also looked for a private sector company with a positive culture focused on people. Proximity, I believe, is a good fit for me. I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues, in particular Principal Advisor, James Lavery, who is the Client Lead for the Victorian Government. Outside of work, Elizabeth is kept very busy mountain biking with her two primary school aged boys and is a keen gardener.
