Bruce Brown

Commercial experience

Bruce has extensive experience advising on the public law challenges corporates face when dealing with governments and regulators.

As a former senior executive with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), he is an experienced corporate, financial services, consumer protection and competition lawyer.

Thanks to his time in the Department of Finance and subsequently in private practice, Bruce has extensive experience advising corporates and government departments. These include Government Business Enterprises, on Freedom of Information and privacy matters (including PIA obligations), and probity issues related to government procurement and disposal processes, including engineering and Information and Technology projects

Bruce is a highly experienced government lawyer.

Bruce has particular expertise in the areas of enforcement and regulation, probity frameworks for procurements, asset sales and grants management, as well as information law and privacy.

Bruce is a former Regional Commissioner for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), was the National Legal Services Manager for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), and was also Special Counsel for the Department of Finance (Finance).

Bruce also has a long record of involvement in the area of health practice regulation, having sat on numerous national health practice boards and sub committees.

Bruce has undertaken many placements at the National Health and Medical Research Council.
