Ian Ung is a reliable and trusted advisor to the government with over 15 years’ experience working in national security, law enforcement, and defence.

Ian was drawn to the role at Proximity because of the vibrant and supportive culture.

“Proximity is full of genuine, bold, and helpful individuals who are invested in each other’s successes.”

The strong emphasis on collaboration across all levels allows staff to learn from one another across a range of different disciplines and experiences. This inclusive and dynamic environment fosters professional growth and makes every day enjoyable and rewarding.

A typical day for Ian while on secondment is all about providing quality advice and services to clients to address the issues and challenges they may face. “A day in the life at Proximity is a fast-paced dynamic blend of teamwork and creativity. I work closely with stakeholders to try to resolve privacy issues in a constructive way.”

Proximity’s unwavering commitment to delivering optimal client outcomes is not just a company mantra; it’s a guiding principle that resonates deeply with every consultant.

“As a service provider, it is very fulfilling to deliver ideas and options to clients to solve their complex legal problems. Proximity’s approach of working closely with clients is crucial to understanding business requirements, which is imperative to deliver these solutions.”

Ian particularly enjoys working on secondment, especially on complex legislative projects. He recalls a favourite project: “I have worked on some interesting projects while on secondment, including a complex legislative project delivered in an exceptionally short timeframe. This involved working with multiple agencies across different portfolios, to deliver a much-needed piece of legislation to support important government activities.”

Proximity is looking for more Special Advisors like Ian who are ready to roll up their sleeves and work as part of a team to unpick and solve complex client challenges.
