Experience
Loretta Houlahan is a Special Advisor in the Public Law & Litigation team. Loretta has a broad practice with a primary focus in the areas of administrative and public law, legislative reform, inquiries, merits review and mediation/alternative dispute resolution. Loretta has experience advising, assisting and appearing on behalf of a range of Government Agencies. Loretta previously worked as a Senior Associate in the Administrative Law team at a large private law firm in Canberra, and has also provided full-time service as a Legal Officer in the Royal Australian Navy. Loretta continues to work for Defence as a reservist Legal Officer where she advises on operations, international and security law, and was recently awarded first place by the Law Council of Australia for her essay on climate change induced sea-level rise.
Loretta has a Master of Science (Honours), a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor), and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is an experienced board and panel member, serving on boards in health, surgery, and for the Department of Defence.
In her spare time, Loretta enjoys cycling, free-diving and yoga.
