Four members of our legal team have been selected in this year’s Best Lawyers cohort
CANBERRA – Tuesday 23 April, 2024: Today, the outstanding legal talent of our team has been acknowledged on the national stage with four of our lawyers announced as 2025 Best Lawyers. Co-founder and National Lead of Procurement and Contracts, Sean King, Expert Advisor, Robin Creyke, Principal Advisor, Sarah Colman, and Expert Advisor, Don Markus have all been awarded this prestigious accolade.
To be selected, lawyers can be nominated by anyone but themselves and recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. Currently recognised lawyers provide feedback on the calibre of the candidate’s work which forms a consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.
Zoe Lynam, Proximity’s CEO and National Lead – Legal, said she was thrilled to hear about the inclusion of four of our lawyers but said it didn’t surprise her.
“Our legal team at Proximity is filled with some of the brightest in the business and every one of the recipients is deserving. The breadth and depth of expertise in our team is unmatched and I’m proud every day of the positive difference they are making to our clients’ work,” she said.
Sean King was selected in the areas of Commercial Law and Government Practice, having worked on some of Australia’s largest projects, including multi-billion dollar deals and significant national programs. Sean has previously been recognised by Best Lawyers for Commercial Law and Government Practice and Doyle’s Guide for Corporate, Commercial and Procurement.
Expert Advisor, Robin Creyke was recognised for her knowledge and diligence across Alternative Dispute Resolution, Government Practice and Public Law. This follows her 2020 achievement of being named the ACT Public Lawyer of the Year. Robin’s outstanding reputation has seen her awarded the Order of Australia and appointed as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law, and an Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University (ANU). Robin’s expertise also spans law for military and veterans’ entitlements, compensation law, regulation and working with legislation.
Sarah Colman is a Principal Advisor at Proximity with deep experience in commercial law, complex technology contracts, procurement and probity. She was recognised for her impact and contributions in Commercial Law and Information Technology Law. Sarah spent many years as in-house legal counsel at two large technology companies and understands the complexities of large IT and technology contracts.
Don Markus was an Expert Advisor with Proximity prior to his recent retirement. Don was recognised for his contribution to Government Law over his extensive career that spanned both the Commonwealth and ACT jurisdictions.
“Our legal team is helpful, genuine and driven to make a difference. As a leading provider of legal services to the government sector, we have assisted with some of its most complex and high-profile legal matters. This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary depth of legal talent,” concluded Lynam.
